Workout Mash-up and Other Random Thoughts

Right now I'm feeling extremely under the weather. What started as a few sneezes on Monday has turned into a full on head cold that intensified Tuesday night and has only gotten worse. I have had a bad cold twice in the past 6 weeks and it is not fun, let me tell you. This time, I asked my doctor what I can take for it. She said Mucinex would be alright so I took some last night before bed. Now that it is wearing off, I'm back to feeling exactly how I did yesterday. Fun times, fun times. Thankfully, before things got to be too bad, I was able to get in a workout this week. (I'm hoping to feel better by the weekend to get in another run, but we'll see.)

On Tuesday I hit the treadmill with a goal of finishing 1-2 miles. After a mile, I wasn't really feeling it anymore so I headed to the elliptical and did a mile. I actually didn't hate the elliptical as much as I remember. In fact, I rather enjoyed the variety in this workout. Maybe because now things are different for my body. I move differently and my joints react differently. This pregnancy has really given me a new appreciation of what our bodies are capable of. It is quite remarkable.

And I don't think I'll be able to wear my "I Run with Fast Women" tee much longer. It was a bit tight in the abdomen/baby bump region! :) At 18 weeks, the bump is finally starting to emerge, just a tad bit. And I apologize for those that aren't familiar with me talking in "weeks." All the books and websites refer to pregnancy according to weeks. Once the baby is born, it seems like the books and websites refer to infants according to months. This is one of those things I'm learning along the way! A typical pregnancy lasts for 40 weeks and the 20 week mark is considered half-way. Since my due date is September 21st, I'm at about 4 months with 5 months left to go. Almost half way!

Weekly Cardio Summary 3/17-3/23

Wednesday-Friday: Walk to and from the train. 4.8 miles total.
0.8 miles each way. 2x per day, 3 days a week. I took a business trip and was gone on Monday and Tuesday hence the smaller mileage this week

Hers and Hers Sunday ice cream treats.
Sunday: 3 mile walk with Pepper.
I really am loving this Sunday tradition. This week I even let Pepper cheat on her diet a little bit and get a baby come. Shh, don't tell anyone. :) I even took a video to commemorate the event. Lol.

Saturday: Rowing 15 minutes
Toph and I had wedding to go to Saturday night downtown and we were leaving for vacation soon after. That led to lots of errands but since I hadn't run all week, I wanted to be sure to get in some sort of workout before vacation.

Just after getting off the rowing machine, I went to check the mail. A wonderful surprise arrived! Amanda (aka Too Tall Fritz) had bought me a ForTwoFitness shirt that we had talked about online last week. It brought a smile to my face (and perhaps a tear to my eye) as the shirt is so cute and Amanda is so thoughtful! I can't wait to be wearing this one all around town once the weather warms up enough to wear a t-shirt!
Thanks Amanda! This shirt is definitely motivation to get out there and sweat!

With the business trip this week, I was really thrown off. I didn't properly plan my workouts to account for the extra time I'd need to spend in the office, closing up loose ends before being out for a week. Now that I'm on vacation, I know we'll be doing a lot of walking. I also brought a prenatal pilates DVD that a friend gave to me. I'm very much looking forward to lots of relaxing and some delicious food!
