Baby Wilson: 38 Weeks

How far along? 38 weeks
Baby’s size/development this week: weighs 6.8 pounds and measures over 19 1/2 inches long; about the size of a pumpkin. I’ve decided that I need to have lots of pumpkin flavored things to celebrate.
Maternity clothes: wearing them? Yes
Miss anything? Pumpkin beer
Food cravings? None
Anything making you queasy or sick? Just the cologne thing still. Gross.
Sleep: My sleep schedule is pretty sporadic. Some nights I sleep through, other nights I wake up in a pool of sweat (despite our room being freezing), and sometimes I have to get up multiple times to use the bathroom. I can’t complain though, I know this stuff is all pretty normal.
Best moment of the week: Seeing our baby’s face on an ultrasound! (reason for the ultrasound explained below)
Nursery: Things are pretty much complete! The only thing left is to hang the drapes and to purchase the crib. We are waiting on a gift card from my dad before making the purchase. Plus, we have our Pack N Play in our bedroom that the baby will be using for the first few months anyways.
Wedding rings on or off? on
Movement? Stretches, jabs, rolls, all stuff signaling that Baby wants out! :)
Weird pregnancy thing of the week: I had a little incident take place on Saturday. I tripped and fell after going out to breakfast, as my toe got caught on a lip in the curb. I fell to my knees and then fell forward with my arms trying to break my fall. Since my belly is so big at this point, it did hit the ground. I called my doctor right away and headed to the hospital. As I’m so far along, I wasn't sure of the possible scenarios. Soon after I fell, the baby started moving a little bit so I knew that we would be okay. When we got to the hospital, they tested the heart rate and everything was great. I was told I needed to stay for 24 hours for observation.

They needed to do a full ultrasound to make sure that the placenta did not come away from the uterine wall when I fell. The placenta was still in-tact so that was good news. However, we found out that our little nugget went from being head-down to being breech. As I’m currently already effacing and dilating, my doctor doesn't want me to go into labor or have my water break with the baby in the breech position. I have an appointment scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday) to determine the next steps. If Baby is still breech and I’m dilated further than 1cm, we have a c-section scheduled for this Thursday. If I’m still only dilated to 1cm and baby is still breech, we wait a week and give Baby some time to flip. If baby has flipped, we go back to our original scenario.

Long story short, this baby may arrive in just 2 days! Thankfully with my obsessive planning, most things are already ready (especially as far as insurance, HR and all things work related). This wasn't part of our original plan, but the best way you can prepare for a baby is to be flexible. We are excited and about as ready as we can be for little nugget’s arrival, whether it is this week or next…
Daddy is feeling: the need to get lots of things done around the house
Mommy is feeling: excited and nervous
Workouts this week: Walking as usual to and from work during the week. Was pretty much on bed rest while at the hospital on Saturday/Sunday but my doc approved normal activity following my release.
Looking forward to: Finding out next steps at our doctor’s appointment tomorrow!! :)

Baby Wilson: 37 Weeks -- Full Term!

How far along? 37 weeks – Full term!
Baby’s size/development this week: weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures over 19 inches long; about the size of a head of a winter melon or a bunch of swiss chard. I don’t regularly eat either of these vegetables so this isn't really a great comparison.
Maternity clothes: wearing them? Ye, although many of them are stretched to capacity….
Miss anything? Maneuvering easily
Food cravings? None
Anything making you queasy or sick? Some people really have to lay off the amount cologne to wear. Seriously.
Sleep: Meh, this has not been great. The night sweats continue and I usually get up in the middle of the night either to go to the bathroom or because I’m uncomfortable. Then, I can’t get comfortable so I’m just up. Usually pretty early no matter what day of the week it is.
Best moment of the week: My doctor’s appointment when I got to hear Baby’s heartbeat again! Also, I found out that I’m starting to dilate. My body is prepping and getting ready for Baby Wilson’s arrival!
Nursery: Items are put together, the room is painted, the furniture is now painted. It is just a matter of organizing and final prep!
Wedding rings on or off? on
Movement? Shoves, jabs, and rolls. Baby wants to get out!
Weird pregnancy thing of the week: I've been feeling some Braxton Hicks contractions which are super fun. At least that’s a sign that my body is getting ready to deliver!
Daddy is feeling: Excited and scared
Mommy is feeling: The same as Dad.
Workouts this week: Continued walking, although this morning I felt particularly sluggish. I just didn't feel like moving. I still have a few weeks left to go! Let’s hope today is just an off day. :)
Looking forward to: BABY'S ARRIVAL!!!

Baby Wilson: 36 Weeks

How far along? 36 weeks
Baby’s size/development this week: weighs almost 6 pounds and measures over 18 1/2 inches long; about the size of a head of romaine lettuce
Maternity clothes: wearing them? Yes. The summer warmth has finally returned to Chicago so I’m getting some use out of my maternity tank tops.
Miss anything? Being comfortable.
Food cravings? None
Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing in particular. I've been able to stomach a little homemade iced coffee here and there which has been nice when I need the caffeine.
Sleep: Apparently I've started snoring. I don’t notice it at all, but apparently the hubs woke up to some powerful snores inches from his face this past week. Haha, oops! Sleeping through the night has not occurred in weeks, but I’m getting by just fine on little to no sleep.
Best moment of the week: My doctor’s appointment when I got to hear Baby’s heartbeat again! Love that sound, it seriously never gets old!
Nursery: Most of the items are put together in the room. We've finally decided on a layout and the hubs is going to finish what he needs to do this weekend. Things are almost done!
Wedding rings on or off? on
Movement? Big kicks and rolls, but the baby seems to be staying in the “head down” position which is comforting!
Weird pregnancy thing of the week: Nothing really newly strange this week. I still have the night sweats, I’m still overly emotional, and I’m excited for this baby to come out!
Daddy is feeling: He said the other day that he’s ready for me to not be pregnant. Um, I’m also ready for ME to not be pregnant. Lol.
Mommy is feeling: Excited and scared at the same time.
Workouts this week: Lots of walking—the same as pretty much any other week.
Looking forward to: My weekly doctor’s appointment! Now I get updates on effacement and dilation! How exciting!! :)

Baby Wilson: 35 Weeks

How far along? 35 weeks
Baby’s size/development this week: weighs about 5 1/4 pounds and measures over 18 inches long; about the size of a honeydew melon
Maternity clothes: wearing them? Yes. Some of the clothes are starting to get snug and are not fitting me so well anymore. Thankfully I’m getting closer to the end every day! :)
Miss anything? Yuengling Lager (was super jealous eyeing the hubs on his trip with his friends as they were having some cans)
Food cravings? None
Anything making you queasy or sick? I nearly gagged on my way to work yesterday getting a whiff of someone’s cologne/aftershave. The smell was piercing my nostrils and I had to stop walking because I thought for a minute that I might be sick. I think the nose is back into “super scent” mode as other scents have been kind of overpowering lately.
Sleep: As mentioned before, sleeping through the night is now a thing of the past. Sometimes I wake up multiple times; sometimes I only wake up once. The night sweats are still happening so that is always fun. Last night I barely slept after I woke up because I couldn't feel the baby moving. (He/she usually always moves when I lay back down after getting up in the night.) However, Baby has been moving around this morning just fine, so I know that I was just being crazy/neurotic.
Best moment of the week: Our second baby shower! We got so many generous gifts and I just feel so overwhelmed with love for this baby!
Nursery: Not much progress this week. We still have a lot to do to get the nursery ready. Hopefully this baby doesn't come early!
Wedding rings on or off? on
Movement? Lots of big kicks that physically move my stomach. It kind of creeps the hubs out. I tell him to try and imagine what it is like for me! Lol
Weird pregnancy thing of the week: I've been feeling a little overly emotional this past week. When I went to make my husband a sandwich for his lunch and realized the bread I had JUST bought the day before was expired and already moldy, I started crying. Then, last night, it was like a sudden realization that we’re having a baby. Like a real, tiny human. I got this overwhelming feeling of change and emotion and started crying again. Blame it on the hormones.
Daddy is feeling: Excited for the baby to come.
Mommy is feeling: happy and almost ready
Workouts this week: Lots of walking—the same as pretty much any other week.
Looking forward to: Birthing class is this weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Should be interesting!

Baby Wilson: 34 weeks

The hubs is out of town this week.
Don't mind the bathroom selfie.

How far along? 34 weeks
Baby’s size/development this week: weighs about 4 3/4 pounds and measures almost 18 inches long; about the size of a cantaloupe
Maternity clothes: wearing them? Yes. I probably won't buy anything else this pregnancy. I've been set for a little while now. Time to coast through to the end!
Miss anything? Sleeping through the night
Food cravings? None
Anything making you queasy or sick? Cigarettes are the worst culprit, still.
Sleep: This has been kind of random. I'm still getting the night sweats but not every night. I now wake up at random times for random reasons. Whether it is just my brain going into overdrive, worried I’ll miss my alarm, or I have to go to the bathroom. Sometimes I only wake up once in the night. Other times I wake up multiple times.
Best moment of the week: The hubs finished painting the nursery! Time to get things rolling!
Nursery: The walls are painted and so is the closet. I put together a bookshelf over the weekend. We have some furniture that is in the middle of being painted right now, so once that is done we can do more arranging. We are more than halfway there!
Wedding rings on or off? on
Movement? Lots of nice big rolls and kicks. I never used to feel the baby move when I was walking until now. Also, the rib kicks have started. Those are really fun, let me tell you!
Weird pregnancy thing of the week: The small strip between my chest and the bump is pretty much numb. There are some sharp stings that I feel at different times throughout the day. I've asked my doctor about this and it is totally normal. The baby is just on some nerves. Doesn't make it feel any less weird…
Daddy is feeling: carefree. (He’s on his dad-cation with his friends right now.)
Mommy is feeling: a little more ready each day.
Workouts this week: Lots of walking. I did go for a boat ride with my cousin and her husband last week. As water skiing while pregnant is not recommended, I was just the spotter. We swam around at the sandbar for a little while which was fun. It was a beautiful day and I enjoyed the relaxing time!
Looking forward to: Our second baby shower this weekend! I can’t believe the baby will be here so soon! It really is exciting stuff! :)

Baby Wilson: 33 Weeks

How far along? 33 weeks
Baby’s size/development this week: weighs just over 4 pounds and measures more than 17 inches long; about the size of a pineapple
Maternity clothes: wearing them? Yes. Next on my list is to buy a dress for my 2nd baby shower.
Miss anything? Walking without waddling
Food cravings? Nothing really this week other than ice cream, but it is summer and that isn’t really all that different than any other summer.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing new here.
Sleep: Well, I haven’t slept through the night in over a week. I have to get up at least once to go to the bathroom or for no reason at all.
Best moment of the week: Our baby shower! We got such wonderful things! I feel so loved by everyone that has been so generous to us and our little bundle on the way. Things are starting to get a little overwhelming at this point. (Another reason why I’ve been having trouble falling asleep.)
Nursery: The hubs had to work again this weekend, so the room is not yet done. He’s working on it this week though, so hopefully it will be finished up before shower #2! Currently, we have lots and lots of things in our living room. Pepper is very confused as to what all this stuff is and where it came from. She keeps hiding her tennis ball in the different baskets, wanting a reason to find it later.
Wedding rings on or off? on
Movement? Similar to last week, Baby is moving quite often. I love feeling the movements even if they make me uncomfortable or surprised. It really is quite amazing.
Weird pregnancy thing of the week: The latest super fun pregnancy thing has been the night sweats. Sorry if this is TMI for some of you, but for the past week, every night I’ve been woken up in the middle of the night in a pool of sweat. My head and chest are fine, but from the belly down to my toes, I’m drenched. It has given me some panic attacks, worried that my water broke, but that is not the case.
Daddy is feeling: excited for his dad-cation trip with his friends
Mommy is feeling: very loved and overwhelmed
Workouts this week: Lots of walking and that is about it. This answer probably won’t change until after Baby is born!
Looking forward to: The hubs finishing up the nursery this week! The plastic is down and the window-wells are taped! Things are finally progressing.

Baby Wilson: 32 Weeks

How far along? 32 weeks
Baby’s size/development this week: weighs 3 3/4 pounds and measures 16.7 inches long; about the size of a squash or jicama
Maternity clothes: wearing them? Yes. I haven’t made any purchases in a few weeks and I think I have enough stuff to get me through the end of the pregnancy. Hard to believe that Baby will be here soon!
Miss anything? Being able to maneuver around without needing assistance.
Food cravings? I love pickles lately. I could eat them just as a snack (this is after hating them for years). We have lots of cucumbers in our garden so I’m looking into pickling our own! We’ll see if that pinterest project actually pans out.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Not really anything new here.
Sleep: So I think my time of blissful sleep through the night has ended for the next several months. This past weekend I woke up a few times during the night whether it was to go to the bathroom, feeling the baby kick, or no reason at all. Either way, I think my body is getting ready for Baby’s arrival!
Best moment of the week: I don’t know what my best moment of the week was. Nothing really all that exciting happened but nothing bad happened either. Baby is still consistently moving and I can’t wait to hear the heartbeat again on Thursday! :)
Nursery: I made a little art project for the wall with my old card making supplies and a few additional cutouts. I have some ideas of other things to make but we’ll see how creative I actually get with them. Hoping that the hubs paints the nursery this weekend so I can get things organized in there!
Wedding rings on or off? on
Movement? Lots of it! As I mentioned last week, the kicks and squirms are pretty strong. Some of them have even been mildly painful. Should be fun to see how much stronger these things get in the next few weeks!
Weird pregnancy thing of the week: The back pain is still an issue. Thankfully my BRF got me a wonderful gift of a prenatal massage! I cannot wait to use it! The other weird thing that has started is that it just harder for me to move around. When going to sleep, I have to lie down and get up slowly. If I lay in the tub, sometimes I need help getting up. If I lay on the couch, I sometimes need to work hard to get up. I can imagine things will only get harder in the weeks to come!
Daddy is feeling: a little stressed and overwhelmed. Aren’t we all?
Mommy is feeling: Ready for the nursery to be done so I can do the fun part, decorating and organizing!
Workouts this week: Lots of walking, as usual. I went with my running club for a group walk and it was a lot of fun.  We even went out for ice cream afterwards!
Looking forward to: My first baby shower this weekend! I’m so excited to celebrate with my husband’s family. Everyone has been through so much lately and this baby has already brought so much happiness to them. I’m very much looking forward to hanging out with everyone in celelbration.

Baby Wilson: 31 Weeks

Last week my husband's grandpa passed away so I didn't have much time for blogging or a 30 week update.  Thank you all for your kind words on Facebook as we are going through this difficult time. It is greatly appreciated. I did still take a 30 photo, though. I can't believe so much time has gone by! Baby Wilson's due date is less than 9 weeks away!

How far along? 31 weeks
Baby’s size/development this week: weighs 3 1/3 pounds and measures 16 inches long; about the size of a coconut
Maternity clothes: wearing them? Yes. Loving my maternity shorts in these warm temps!
Miss anything? Craft beer. This seems to be a frequent answer to this question.
Food cravings? Something fried. Probably not a good thing…
Anything making you queasy or sick? I’m still having an aversion to salad. Oops.
Sleep: I've still been able to get a good amount of sleep, but the back pain and strong kicks before bed make it a little difficult to fall asleep. Also, the mid-night bathroom trips have started. I imagine they will only get worse.
Best moment of the week: Hearing Baby’s heartbeat again! The sound NEVER gets old, seriously.
Nursery: All of my clutter is gone and a harry potter themed light switch panel has been ordered. This weekend the hubs will be painting so we can get the new-to-us dresser and bookshelf ready before our first baby shower on August 3!
Wedding rings on or off? on
Movement? Lots of squirming, moving around, and kicking. The doctor said it should start coming into a more regular pattern now. The kicks are pretty forceful now. You can really see my belly move!
Weird pregnancy thing of the week: The back pain is still by far the worst thing. I’ve been taking baths, self-massaging, and laying down when necessary. However, sometimes none of this stuff works and my back still hurts. I might have to bring a pillow to work or something. We don’t quite have the money right now for a pre-natal massage but I would really like to get one soon. Also, even though the temps in Chicago are crazy hot and humid, my hands are still somehow dry? Oh pregnancy hormones. You do weird things.
Daddy is feeling: the pressure to get things done in the nursery… We have been so busy almost every weekend, there is so much to do around the house
Mommy is feeling: Excited and getting ready!
Workouts this week: Lots of walking, as usual. A few quick jogs to cross the street (in which I have to go pee immediately afterwards) but that is about it.
Looking forward to: The nursery transformation! Hopefully we can get a lot done this upcoming weekend!

Baby Wilson: 29 Weeks

How far along? 29 weeks
Baby’s size/development this week: weighs 2 1/2 pounds and measures 15 inches long; about the size of a butternut squash
Maternity clothes: wearing them? Yes. Although, my new favorite shirt just arrived in the mail. It isn’t maternity but I wore it around anyways. It is my Oiselle Lauren Fleshman is my Homeboy shirt. A-duh it is my new favorite.
Miss anything? Sleeping on my back without waking up in a pool of sweat. But since I’m still sleeping through the night, I guess I can’t really complain.
Food cravings? Nothing really.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Felt sick again this week after breakfast. I don’t know if it is because of the milk or the cereal but either way that is not really a great start to my day.
Sleep: Getting comfortable before bed is becoming more difficult. However, I’m still sleeping through the night as I previously mentioned. I’m not sure how much longer this will last so I’m going to enjoy it!
Best moment of the week: Having more of my extended family get the chance to feel some big kicks. :)
Nursery: I cleaned up some of the clutter, but now it is in the living room. When is this “nesting” thing going to set in? Lol.
Wedding rings on or off? on
Movement? Lots of squirming, moving around, and kicking. If I can feel it start and look down at my belly, you can see my belly moving. I like to visualize what the baby is doing in there. I love seeing all these Instagram videos that my pals have posted of their babies doing baby things. Cooing, air punching, kicking their legs… I imagine that is what Baby is doing inside the womb.
Weird pregnancy thing of the week: Oh the back pain is becoming quite brutal. I can’t sit for more than 1 ½ hours without the pain setting in. The evenings are just the worst. Earlier this week I had a spasm/fit of pain that hurt so bad I had tears in my eyes. I’m not really looking forward to this every day for the next 11 weeks. If anyone has any recommendations for relief, I’m all ears.
Daddy is feeling: the pressure to get things done in the nursery…
Mommy is feeling: that there is still so much left to do!
Workouts this week: Went for a nice walk with Anne when our meeting for ice cream was foiled with the shoppe being closed. :( Also, went for a canoe ride with the hubs when we were in Michigan over the weekend. I had fun but the hubs did not, picking up my extra slack on how poorly I was paddling. Lol.
Looking forward to: My baby showers! Invitations for one have been sent out and the invitations for the other have been ordered. :)

Baby Wilson: 28 Weeks

How far along? 28 weeks
Baby’s size/development this week: weighs 2 1/4 pounds and measures 14.8 inches long; about the size of an eggplant
Maternity clothes: wearing them? Yes. I can’t really fit into many of my old pre-pregnancy shirts anymore because they are too short and leave the belly exposed. No thanks!
Miss anything? Enjoying a beer on the boat while the sun is shining… However, I don’t miss being hungover! (I never handled hangovers well.)
Food cravings? I have realized that I now like pickles. I have disliked pickles for a long time but now I catch myself ordering them on my sandwiches and not ordering things without them.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Salads. That is probably not a good thing. Lol.
Sleep: I’m sleeping fine through the night, although waking up in a pool of sweat is pretty disgusting. TMI?
Best moment of the week: Hearing the baby’s heartbeat again at our 28 week appointment. I seriously never get tired of hearing that sound. It is spectacular. :)
Nursery: Nothing this week. I should probably get rolling on this soon…
Wedding rings on or off? on
Movement? Pretty regular and becoming stronger. The kicks will move your hand if you catch them at the right moment! I’m also feeling some stretching and positioning. The baby is burrowed deep down there and hasn't gotten into position yet, but there is still plenty of time for that. 12 weeks to go! WOW!!
Weird pregnancy thing of the week: Strangers on the street are starting to notice that I’m visibly pregnant. They will stare at my belly as I walk by… STARING. It really is strange to have people staring at your belly instead of ignoring you, like they normally do.
Daddy is feeling: like there is still quite a bit left to do…
Mommy is feeling: that we no longer have “plenty of time”… we are less than 3 months away from the arrival! 3 months is not a long time!
Workouts this week: Um, considering removing this question because all I’m doing these days is walking. I like my walks though. :)
Looking forward to: Some rest and relaxation in Michigan over 4th of July weekend (and meeting up with Anne)!

Reflections on the Second Trimester

Wow, how far the bump has come (literally)! Now that the second trimester has come to a close, I thought I would share my thoughts. A lot of things happened as far as baby development goes.

  • Baby grew from the size of a peach, weighing less than an ounce... to the size of a head of lettuce, weighing 1 2/3 pounds (more weekly progress posts here)
  • I got to feel movement for the first time, from flutters to kicks to somersaults to hiccups and everything in-between
  • I no longer fit into regular pants, even when using the belly band or other "tricks" and most of my old t-shirts are too short (leaving the bottom half of the belly exposed-yikes)
  • We got our 20 week ultrasound letting us know that Baby is developing just fine and dandy in the uterus!
  • We celebrated both Mother's Day and Father's Day as parents-to-be
  • I started the second trimester running a few days a week, but that has since stopped (and I'm okay with that!)
All in all, it was a great 13 weeks! I'm ready now for the final stretch! What do I have to look forward to, other than my ever expanding belly? Only time will tell! My weekly progress posts will still be going up along with a few other random things I have in store. :)

This might be a little graphic for some, but here are some CGI videos that I found to be quite amazing on the fetal development during this period. Seriously, so much happens... and all I have to do is take my vitamins and not drink booze. It just happens on its own. CRAZY!! (weeks 15-20, weeks 21-27)

Baby Wilson: 27 Weeks

Top: ASOS Maternity, Shorts: Old Navy Maternity

How far along? 27 weeks
Baby’s size/development this week: weighs almost 2 pounds and measures about 14 1/2 inches long; about the size of a head of cauliflower
Maternity clothes: wearing them? Yes. I made some more purchases this past weekend and I’m working on a fashion show post for you guys!
Miss anything? Drinking beer
Food cravings? Nothing in particular… Cravings have died down with each passing week.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Still having issues with eating my breakfast too fast. I felt sick on the train in this morning. Hopefully I can figure this thing out. Lol.
Sleep: Still sleeping like a rock but I've been getting night-sweats in this heat. Looking forward to even warmer temps coming up!
Best moment of the week: Seeing how excited my husband’s grandma was to feel some of Baby’s kicks. (It will be her first great-grandchild and she is beyond excited.) And, we received our first registry gift in the mail! One of my blogger friends from the east coast (Danielle of Ooh Breathe, Just Breathe) sent us a Wubbanub. It was just as adorable as I imagined and I’ll have to be sure to send Danielle a photo of Baby using it when he/she arrives!
Nursery: Nothing this week. I should probably get rolling on this soon…
Wedding rings on or off? on
Movement? Some days Baby is more active than others, but the acrobatics always start right before bed… Always. It is pretty comforting actually. :)
Weird pregnancy thing of the week: In addition to the belly button protruding more, I've started to feel a few random Braxton Hicks contractions. I didn't know what I was feeling until I got my weekly email telling me that they usually start around this time. They have been short-lived and not painful (just discomforting) but it is comforting to know that my body is getting ready for Baby’s arrival in September!
Daddy is feeling: like the pressure is on to get things done in the nursery
Mommy is feeling: more and more confident, ready for the home stretch!
Workouts this week: I did tons and tons of walking at Mall of America. That really is my preferred method of workouts these days. I have been enjoying my quiet evenings at home instead of running off to the gym. I think I’m going to continue to enjoy them as they won’t be so quiet for much longer!
Looking forward to: Another doctor’s appointment this Thursday where I’ll get to hear Baby’s heartbeat! Those are always my favorite. I’m going to be asking some good questions this time around so I’m interested to hear what my doctor has to say (circumcision, delayed clamping, whooping cough vaccination). Fun times!

And if you're curious, check out my post about my thoughts on maternity clothes here!

Baby Wilson: 26 Weeks

How far along? 26 weeks
Baby’s size/development this week: weighs about 1 2/3 pounds and measures about 14 inches long; about the size of an eggplant
Maternity clothes: wearing them? Yes. I am looking forward to making some purchases this weekend at Mall of America!
Miss anything? Running
Food cravings? I've been eating a lot of cheerios for breakfast and I can’t seem to get enough lemonade.
Anything making you queasy or sick? I have actually been feeling not so great the last few mornings after inhaling my breakfast. I don’t think I realized how fast I was eating until it was too late. Now I have horrible heartburn (and a queasy stomach) to go with all the other fun symptoms.
Sleep: I have been sleeping like a log this past week. The hubs said he’s had to move my body pillow to the other side of me as I hog more than half the bed. Oops!
Best moment of the week: I got really excited when I found out that my insurance plan will cover the cost of an electric breast pump. (Sorry if that is TMI.)
Nursery: I picked out the paint color. Now the ball is in the hubs’ corner to purchase and commence painting. Just over 3 months left to go! Yikes!
Wedding rings on or off? on
Movement? The movement has been pretty regular with some days more than others. Feeling the kicks always brings a smile to my face. :)
Weird pregnancy thing of the week: I've been having bad back pain for the past few days. Not really sure of the reason but it is uncomfortable to sit which kind of makes doing my job difficult. I took a bath the one night and that made my back feel better. I see more baths in my future… Also, my belly button is slowly becoming an outie. I knew this day would come, I just wasn't quite sure when.
Daddy is feeling: the need to get some things done including painting the room and the dresser and bookshelf we have ready to go.
Mommy is feeling: uncomfortable in my own skin at times. But I know I need to suck it up because there is still a ways to go!
Workouts this week: I have not really felt like working out all that much so I've been sticking to walking. I’m completely content getting in my daily walks and relaxing in the evenings. I won’t really have that luxury when Baby comes so I’m going to enjoy it now.
Looking forward to: My annual trip to Mall of America (we leave tomorrow morning)! I will probably do a fashion show post afterwards to tell you all about my great deals! :)

Baby Wilson: 25 Weeks

How far along? 25 weeks
Baby’s size/development this week: weighs 1.5 pounds and measures 13.5 inches long; about the size of a cauliflower
Maternity clothes: wearing them? Yes. I recently bought a skirt from the Gap that I've been eyeing on their website for weeks. Yay for the in-store clearance section!
Miss anything? Craft brews
Food cravings? When I got home from Ragnar, I wanted something deep fried. I don’t know why but I just wanted something that I knew wasn't going to be good for me. The husband obliged and made a run to Mindy’s where I was able to get chicken fingers and French fries. It totally hit the spot and I devoured every bite.
Anything making you queasy or sick? I actually have been trying iced coffee lately and it isn’t half bad. I think that is because it is half milk, watered down with ice, and includes some sugar. But the smell of strong black coffee still makes me a little ill.
Sleep: I have been sleeping on my right side since I started sleeping on my side. I recently learned that I should be sleeping on my left side. (Apparently there is better blood flow to the baby if you sleep on your left side.) This is a bit more uncomfortable than usual and so I’m back to having some trouble falling asleep. I usually will wake up on my back or on my other side anyways. Lol. I guess sleeping Kelly knows what she wants…
Best moment of the week: Helping my friends finish the Ragnar relay. It was a really rewarding experience.
Nursery: I cleaned up some more of the stuff on the floor but I still have a little ways to go. Next up is picking the paint color.
Wedding rings on or off? on
Movement? The movement has been pretty regular. Some of my van-mates even got to see my belly move when Baby had the hiccups over the weekend!
Weird pregnancy thing of the week: Hmm, nothing really all that weird this week. Although, picking stuff up off the ground is becoming increasingly more challenging.
Daddy is feeling: the realization more and more that this baby is coming!
Mommy is feeling: happy to soon be moving into the third trimester! Wow, how the time has flown.
Workouts this week: I did lots of walking and driving at Ragnar but no official workouts. My body was physically tired from all of that so I’m going to be taking it easy this week. I’ll probably take Pepper out for a walk later this week if the weather is nice.
Looking forward to: My annual trip to Mall of America next week! I’m very excited to find some great deals on clothes for me and Baby :)

Baby Wilson: 24 Weeks

How far along? 24 weeks
Baby’s size/development this week: weighs between 12.7 to 20.8 ounces and measures about 10.5 to 11.8 inches long; about the size of a cantaloupe
Maternity clothes: wearing them? Yes. I just purchased some new bras over the weekend. Golly, is it inappropriate if I say that I’m getting scared of how large the girls are getting?
Miss anything? Sleeping on my back
Food cravings? If you follow me on Twitter, you would know that I had an incident with a donut on Friday. I had walked into my favorite bakery and requested my favorite donut, like I had done many times before. Much to my dismay, I was told that they no longer make my favorite donut. It had been discontinued. So, I walked out the door, extremely disappointed and started crying. Um, yes. I cried over a donut. Naturally, I took to Twitter and asked my followers where I could find a donut place in the Loop to fulfill my craving. I ate a delicious donut and all was right with the world.
Anything making you queasy or sick? The same old Starbucks coffee and cigarette smoke. Nothing new here.
Sleep: Baby has been kicking like crazy at night right before bed which has added some additional time needed for me to fall asleep. I might need to start going to bed earlier to account for this extra time.
Best moment of the week: I got a little sneak peak ultrasound and Baby is looking good. :)
Nursery: I got lots done this weekend! The nursery closet is officially cleared of all my stuff. I also moved around some other things. There is still a ton of stuff on the floor but not as much stuff as last week. :)
Wedding rings on or off? on
Movement? I've been feeling all sorts of crazy movement. Somersaults, body slams, elbow jams. It is pretty amazing. It is completely indescribable.
Weird pregnancy thing of the week: The skin dryness is still a thing. My husband says “How can your skin be dry? It is sooo humid out.” Um, because I’m pregnant apparently. But if that is honestly the worst symptom I’m feeling, there are plenty of worse things.
Daddy is feeling: pretty excited to feel the kicks and rolls too.
Mommy is feeling: excited and happy. All the registry stuff is done. The baby is moving around constantly. I’m doing my best to try and enjoy pregnancy without worrying too much (although that is much easier said than done).
Workouts this week: Other than my usual walking, none. I took it easy this week because I think I pushed it too hard last week. I have plans to hit the elliptical at some point this week so we’ll see how that pans out.
Looking forward to: the Ragnar Relay this weekend! I’ll be driving my pals from Madison to Chicago. They run and I drive and cheer. I’m very much looking forward to it and will have a post about it later this week.

Baby Wilson: 23 Weeks

How far along? 23 weeks
Baby’s size/development this week: weighs over 1 pound and measures 11 inches long; about the size of a large mango (or an ear of corn)
Maternity clothes: wearing them? Yes. We are on a bit of a budget squeeze this week so I haven’t made any purchases, although I know I’m going to need to get some shorts soon with the rising temps.
Miss anything? Is it bad if I say beer?
Food cravings? I've been loving fruit lately. I love to keep a variety on hand.
Anything making you queasy or sick? The same old Starbucks coffee and cigarette smoke. Nothing new here.
Sleep: I was pretty tired this past week as it was fairly busy (looking forward to taking it easy this week). I've been sleeping like a log so I’m enjoying this time while I can still get comfortable.
Best moment of the week: Running (or hobbling) my last time during this pregnancy and my husband keeping me company while I was doing it (despite how much he dislikes running)
Nursery: My brother took back all of his furniture that we were using. So now, all the things that were previously in the dressers and under the bed are just now in piles on the floor. It is definitely in shambles, but we are taking some baby steps!
Wedding rings on or off? on
Movement? I felt hiccups for the first time this past week. My husband asked me to describe it. I’d say it is as if you swallowed a cell phone and you keep getting text messages. It is like a minute vibration. The kicks are still coming strong (in fact, Baby is kicking as I type this). They have yet to get old, although when Baby is kicking my bladder, that isn't really fun… but still pretty cool.
Weird pregnancy thing of the week: The skin dryness is finally starting to subdue a little bit as the humidity is returning. The other night I sneezed when I had my legs crossed and my back hurt for the next few hours. I never used to have back pain and now I get it once every few weeks.
Daddy is feeling: Like this is more and more real.
Mommy is feeling: good! I need to remember my limits and that I can’t do the same things I did before. I need to remember to get my sleep and allow others to help me when they offer. I’m pregnant; I need to take it easy.
Workouts this week: I did a ton of walking on Thursday (probably about 4-5 miles) as my company participated in the Corporate Challenge. I was the gear check so I was hung out in the cold and watched everyone’s gear. I also ran (well mostly hobbled and walked) a 5k on Saturday. (Full race recap to come later this week). I also took the pups out for a walk to the park with our friends yesterday. The dogs had a fantastic time.
Looking forward to: finishing up my registries this week! I’m going with my cousin on Wednesday and we’re going to pick out the last few things. Then, I’m not going to look at my registries until after the baby shower. I want to be surprised! :)

Baby Wilson: 22 Weeks

How far along? 22 weeks
Baby’s size/development this week: weighs about 1 pound and measures 11 inches long; about the size of a spaghetti squash
Maternity clothes: wearing them? Yes. I made a few Loft purchases last week. Once I’m more towards the end of my pregnancy, I’ll give my thoughts on maternity clothes.
Miss anything? Sushi, it really is refreshing in the summer.
Food cravings? Nothing really. Lemonade has been my preferred drink of choice so we have it at home and now I have some at work.
Anything making you queasy or sick? The same old Starbucks coffee and cigarette smoke. Nothing new here.
Sleep: Baby’s kicks have been getting stronger and Baby is usually active right as I’m about to fall asleep. The hubs will ask me what I’m giggling about; Baby’s kicks sometimes tickle!
Best moment of the week: Having the hubs finally get to feel some strong kicks. My MIL even got to feel a few too. Some kicks are stronger than others but it is not yet getting old! (I don’t know if it ever will)
Nursery: Nothing yet. The dresser that the hubs bought is still in its box from Ikea. With Memorial Day coming up, I imagine we’ll get started on it after the holiday weekend.
Wedding rings on or off? on
Movement? As mentioned before, Baby’s kicks are getting stronger and stronger. I feel them several times a day and it is still pretty cool. At some point between this week and next, Baby learns how to swallow and hiccups come soon after. I can only imagine what that will feel like.
Weird pregnancy thing of the week: Nothing really new or strange here. Skin is still awfully dry (as if we are in the dead of winter). I still fit into all my normal shoes so that is still a good sign (this is usually a point in the pregnancy when the feet start to swell).
Daddy is feeling: happy about getting to feel the kicks. This whole baby thing is starting to seem more real.
Mommy is feeling: good! I do have to get a bathing suit for this summer as there is no way I’m fitting into my old one. When I went to try them on, I had no idea of my size which led to some pretty sad images in the dressing room. Lol. I’m still undecided if I want to go with a maternity tankini or flaunt the bump in a two piece. TBD
Workouts this week: I did 1.5 mile run on Tuesday and did lots of walking the rest of the week. It was a fairly busy week where I didn't make much time for workouts. That seems to be the general theme so far so hopefully that changes!
Looking forward to: a nice long holiday weekend! It will be nice to relax and be around the hubs’ family. Although, not being able to have a beer or two will be a different kind of Memorial Day Weekend experience.

Baby Wilson: 21 Weeks

How far along? 21 weeks
Baby’s size/development this week: weighs about 12 1/2 ounces and measures 10 1/2 inches long; about the size of a pomegranate or a carrot
Maternity clothes: wearing them? Yes. I made a few impulse baby clothing purchases. But, that just means I have one less thing to register for!
Miss anything? My long runs. I miss being able to easily log 6-9 miles on any random weekend, depending what my heart felt like doing. Now, I’m lucky if I have the energy for 2 miles. I know it’s alright and I’ll be back to my long runs soon enough (with a jogging stroller in tow)
Food cravings? I forgot to get some fresh fruit at the grocery store last weekend so I’ve really wanted some apples. Thankfully I remedied that by going to the store this weekend.
Anything making you queasy or sick? The same old Starbucks coffee and cigarette smoke. Nothing new here.
Sleep: Baby’s kicks have been getting stronger but they have yet to wake me up in the middle of the night. I’d like to think that Baby and I are on the same sleep schedule, but I’m sure that is just in my head.
Best moment of the week: Hearing the baby’s heartbeat at the doctor’s appointment. We got the results from the ultrasound and everything is developing well and as expected. Baby Wilson is in the 50th percentile with all of the things they were able to check. Things are looking good!  Also, I got to celebrate my first Mother's Day (well, mother-to-be) where the hubs made me breakfast and we went on a nature hike. It was a really fun day.
Nursery: I received a pregnancy book as a Mother’s Day gift and they have a spot to take a before and after photo of the nursery. Right now, things are in shambles in there. Pretty perfect for a “before” photo, I must say.
Wedding rings on or off? on
Movement? Some days Baby is more active than others. I was nervous when I didn’t feel a lot of kicks on Sunday, but I felt lots of kicks throughout the day on Monday. I love being able to feel Baby after waiting so long to do so. It really is comforting to know that there really is something in there! I don’t think it will ever stop being surreal. Maybe once the baby is delivered?
Weird pregnancy thing of the week: It is humid outside and my skin is still SO DRY. You’d think it was winter! They itch and hurt on a regular basis. I keep putting lots of lotion on but it is still annoying
Daddy is feeling: “happy pappy”
Mommy is feeling: good and wants to get rolling on lots of things while I still have the energy to do so!
Workouts this week: I did 1 run this week and rode the bike once this week. Daily Mile is not impressed with my workouts. I haven’t gotten one of those “Kelly, what an epic week!” (insert other adjective instead of epic) emails in a while. Instead they are just like “Here is your workout summary.” I want to tell those emails “Lay off me, I’m pregnant! Give me some encouragement you jerks!”
Looking forward to: Finish registering. I had no idea that registering for baby stuff would be such hard work! I’ve been going over these lists for over a month and I’m still not done! Baby registries are way more complicated than wedding registries… And the decisions lead to a much bigger impact. What happens if I don’t pick a good toaster? I get frustrated on a Saturday morning when making breakfast. What happens if I don’t pick a good car seat? I don’t want to know.

Baby Wilson: 20 Weeks

How far along? 20 weeks
Baby’s size/development this week: weighs about 10 1/2 ounces and measures 6 1/2 inches long; about the size of a banana (I didn't have any bananas to hold up for comparisons sake. FWP.)
Maternity clothes: wearing them? Yes. I didn't make any maternity purchases this weekend. Gotta start saving money for the wee babe!
Miss anything? Coffee. I know I can have it, my stomach just doesn't like it. I've bought it a few times, end up having a few sips and throwing the rest away. My pregnant body just doesn't want its coffee. I really could use the pick-me-up some mornings. LAME!
Food cravings? Nothing all that strange. I have zero desire to eat vegetables, unless they are in fried form, so I've been trying to eat a lot of fruit. That way, I’m still getting nutrients without wanting to hurl.
Anything making you queasy or sick? The smell of any Starbucks. That strong coffee scent makes me cringe.
Sleep: In the past few months I've had a few zombie apocalypse dreams, and now apparently my mind has moved on to vampire dreams. Although, now that I've got the body pillow, I’m at least comfortably sleeping through the night. :)
Best moment of the week: Our 20 week ultrasound!
Nursery: Nothing yet, but hopefully this week we can get rolling now that we have a 2nd dresser in the master bedroom.
Wedding rings on or off? on
Movement? The flutters and mini kicks come and go throughout the day.
Weird pregnancy thing of the week: I’m still getting over that cold and my skin is seriously still so dry! I don’t know what is up with that! So weird!
Daddy is feeling: excited to start feeling kicks soon.
Mommy is feeling: good and excited to be enjoying the 2nd trimester! :) The worrying has dropped down significantly with each week as Baby continues to grow, my belly expands, and I continue to feel more and more movement.
Workouts this week: I did 1 run this week with plans to do a second that never materialized. My pace is slow and I’m keeping the distance low. But I’m out there having fun which is what counts!
Looking forward to: Dad being able to feel the kicks next!

Baby Wilson: 19 Weeks

How far along? 19 weeks
Baby’s size/development this week: weighs approx 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches long; about the size of a mango
Maternity clothes: wearing them? Yes. I picked up a few tops on clearance this week that can work during and after pregnancy. I’m currently looking for a dress to wear to a client meeting at the end of May. I haven’t had much luck as most things I've found either aren't dressy enough or are way too expensive. I’m glad I started looking now so I have some time to decide.
Miss anything? I went to a baseball game over the weekend and I really missed having a hot dog.  I still got a brat, but it just wasn't the same. Those grilled onions they have to put on top are just the absolute best.
Food cravings? I had part of a Jimmy John’s sub when I was volunteering at a race on Sunday. Now, I have a taste for the full deal. I’ll probably have to go at some point this week. Yummm.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Smoking is still the worst.
Sleep: Because of my cold, I haven't been sleeping very well. The congestion isn't as bad but now I have a cough. On the plus side, I finally bought a body pillow this weekend! I used it last night and slept well (with the exception of my cough waking me up in the middle of the night…) Hopefully this body pillow is the new best thing ever!
Best moment of the week: I felt the baby kick! I was driving home from the grocery store and I felt Baby kick when I was close to home. Hubs was working on the yard when I pulled in the driveway and I had to run and tell him!
Nursery: Did a few small projects but nothing major.
Wedding rings on or off? on
Movement? The flutters have become more frequent, and as I was typing this, I got to feel another kick!
Weird pregnancy thing of the week: I have another cold! It is really frustrating as I feel like I just got over my last one (I had my last cold about 6-7 weeks ago). Thankfully it hasn't been too bad to impair my sleeping too much. I had 1 bad sleepless night and the rest of the nights have been better.
Daddy is feeling: excited to be a dad.
Mommy is feeling: sick, but overall I’m feeling good.
Workouts this week: I did a 1 mile treadmill run and a 1 mile elliptical workout. Then, I got sick and I’m winded just walking so cardio has been on a break.
Looking forward to: Our 20 week ultrasound next Monday!!
